چکیده
Double-track microstructures were induced in the bulk of a z-cut lithium niobate crystal by 1030 nm 240 fs ultrashort laser pulses with repetition rate 100 kHz at variable pulse energies exceeding critical Kerr self-focusing power. The microstructure topography was characterized atomic force microscopy piezoelectric response mode. spatial positions laser-induced modification regions inside case beam propagation along optical axis can be directly predicted simple analytical expressions under paraxial approximation. A dimensional analysis morphology double-track structures revealed that both their length and width exhibit monotonous increase energy. presented results have important implications for direct writing technology crystalline dielectric birefringent materials, paving way to control high resolution means effective energy deposition modified regions.

Investigation of Early Plasma Evolution Induced by Ultrashort Laser Pulses
Early plasma is generated owing to high intensity laser irradiation of target and the subsequent target material ionization. Its dynamics plays a significant role in laser-material interaction, especially in the air environment(1-11). Early plasma evolution has been captured through pump-probe shadowgraphy(1-3) and interferometry(1,4-7). However, the studied time frames and applied laser par...
متن کاملTerahertz generation in lithium niobate driven by Ti:sapphire laser pulses and its limitations.
We experimentally investigate the limits of 800-nm-to-terahertz (THz) energy conversion in lithium niobate at room temperature driven by amplified Ti:sapphire laser pulses with tilted pulse front. The influence of the pump central wavelength, pulse duration, and fluence on THz generation is studied. We achieved a high peak efficiency of 0.12% using transform limited 150 fs pulses and observed s...
متن کاملEngineerable compression of ultrashort pulses by use of second-harmonic generation in chirped-period-poled lithium niobate.
We demonstrate the use of an aperiodic quasi-phase-matching (QPM) grating to generate second-harmonic pulses that are stretched or compressed relative to input pulses at the fundamental frequency. We frequency doubled an externally chirped erbium-doped fiber laser generating 17-ps (FWHM) pulses at 1560nm to produce near-transform-limited 110-fs (FWHM) pulses at 780nm by use of a 5-cm-long lithi...
متن کاملTailored-Beam Ultrashort Laser Pulses
Laser pulses with picosecond and femtosecond durations are now indispensable tools in many scientific disciplines. These ultrashort pulses provide unique temporal resolutions for investigations of phenomena taking place in comparable time ranges. In addition, optical energies squeezed into such short time windows yield extremely high peak powers and intensities, paving the way to generate unpre...
متن کاملUltraviolet laser-induced submicron spatially resolved superhydrophilicity on single crystal lithium niobate surfaces
Lithium niobate crystal surfaces become superhydrophilic after ultraviolet laser irradiation. The crystal surface hydrophilicity, which was assessed by the contact angle of a sessile drop of de-ionized water, was found to undergo a transition from mildly hydrophobic contact angle E 50° to a superhydrophilic state E 5° . Patterning of the hydrophilicity at the micron and submicron ranges has bee...
